- Baby & You - Swimsuit or Shorts
- Reusable swim diaper (available at front desk)

- teach baby to hold their breath under the water
- swim a short distance between instructor and parent
- learn how to grab onto the side of the pool
- jump in the water from a sitting position

- In addition, some basic first aid skills will be covered during class time including what to do if your baby is choking.
How will swimming classes benefit my baby?
- Improve concentration skills
- Perceptual abilities
- Emotional & physical development
- Water improves co-ordination and balance
- Lack of gravity means babies exercise more muscles
- Social skills and intelligence
- Strengthen babies heart, lungs and respiratory system, which in turn aids development of the brain

How can I help prevent a pool fouling?
- If possible, try not to feed your baby right before your class
- Ensure you check your baby’s diaper before entering pool
- Use a reusable swim diaper, and ensure it is the right size (available at the front desk)
- Please don’t bring baby to swimming if they are sick
- Please let your instructor know if you think your child has had an accident
Some more helpful hints as you join our family at Making Waves Swim School:
No Shoes – No Problem!
For everyone’s health and safety there are no outdoor shoes permitted in our changeroom areas or on the pool deck. You are welcome to bring flip flops!
Strollers
Please do not bring strollers onto the pool deck if at all possible. Strollers are welcome in the lobby and changeroom areas.
Cameras
We love them! Please feel free anytime to come out on deck and take pictures.
Swim Diapers
Cloth, reusable swim diapers with a good fit around the legs and waist are REQUIRED for all students under the age of 3, even those who are potty-trained. Please help us prevent leakage into the pool which causes a temporary pool closure.
Our big glass wall is not a barrier
It is here to allow you to watch your children in a comfort-able environment while they swim in a warm one. You are welcome to sit on the benches provided on the pool deck. If you have a question or a comment please feel free to speak to your Head Instructor.
Make-ups
Swimmers are entitled to make-up classes if there are spaces in classes at an equivalent level available. No monetary funds will be available for missed classes. Lessons will only be made up due to personal illness. Registrants are allowed a maximum of 2 make-ups per session. Make-up Lessons are to be scheduled within the current swim session.
